Ramadan Bazaars - don't you just love them? Not only can we find a huge variety of local food here, we love taking in the sights and smells, as well as the friendly faces of the vendors (whom all very sportingly posed for photos for us too). For the past two years, we have been taking our kids to the Pasar Ramadan in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras.
There are at least 50 stalls here set-up here this year, with local specialities such as ayam percik, ayam madu, grilled chicken wings, assam laksa, lauk pauk, satay, ikan bakar, murtabak, kerang/lala, otak-otak, sup power, rojak pasembur, popiah, laksa utara, kuih-muih and colourful drinks. I was happy to see that many stalls took the initiative to put up prices for their items now.
I shall keep this short and sweet, but do enjoy the shots that we took at the Ramadan bazaar last week - or better still, pay a visit to enjoy some local food at affordable prices.

On another visit, we tried several more items from this bazaar. Looks like a few shops close on Sundays, we couldn't get the assam laksa from the stall we went to the last time, but the alternative stall was very good too. We also tried the nasi kerabu, the blue rice served with some salad, ikan masin (salted fish), salted duck;s egg, pickles and some other condiments. Not forgetting some cucur udang, ayam goreng berempah (from the Belimbing Corner stall), some kuih including one which tasted like mochi with a peanut filling.. (the name is either cipka or picka - forgotten the name but we got it from the same shop that we got the cucur udang) and lemang with beef rendang.
A Ramadan feast
